Three years after Biden's party lost, he verbally agrees with some lady at a rally who views Trump as illegitimate. Is that a big deal? When the chips were down and Trump was coming to power, he didn't refuse to count the electoral votes, and Hillary didn't send a mob to Congress to stop the counting. Grumbling the word "illegitimate" and actually refusing to recognize or obey federal law because you don't like the party in power are two very different things.

You could also compare it to all the racist liars who pretended Obama wasn't a legitimate president. That wasn't good - it was a large step on the road to where we are now - but as long as they were just flapping their gums on the internet, it wasn't actually an act of raising themselves to be higher authorities than the state.

The current concern is that Trump and his cronies are threatening prosecutors that if they charge Trump with any of the several crimes he's rather obviously committed, there will be mob violence. I can't think of any modern incident in which a liberal crook threatened to send a lynch mob after prosecutors. Prosecutors have to know that seating 12 honest, impartial jurors will be nearly impossible; if they fear that making the attempt will inspire a Kristallnacht, they won't even try. And then Trump, even while not in office, is literally untouchable.
